Q: Can I join? Is the group alive/still open?

A: Everyone has an opportunity to join the group! Previously we used to have enrollment periods that occurred sporadically, meaning we didn't have a set schedule to accept new applicants. Nowadays we have applications open indefinitely.
When you submit your application and the mods have asked for revisions, you have exactly one week to get back to us. This week will reset with any update presented to us until we accept your application. If we don't receive any updates, we will deny your application, but you're more than welcomed to reapply! And as a reminder: send us new messages regarding updates, do not edit a previous comment! Edited comments do not reappear in our inboxes and make it harder for us to tell if an application has been revised.
Sometimes our group looks like it's been abandoned or put on indefinite hiatus, but the opposite is true! We have dead seasons where activity may come to a complete halt or slow down to a trickle during the school months or holidays. During these months, the group page may be inactive, but if you're a member and have access to our Discord chat you'll find that our community is moderately active.

Q: How come there aren't that many mod-made roleplays/events? When will the next one be?

A: This is a rule stated in our Rules journal, but it's quite simple. We mods have priorities outside of this group involving either school, family matters, or jobs. Maybe all of them at the same time. But this goes for other members as well who are equally busy, we also consider the majority's schedule before we think of planning a new event or roleplay. Because of this, we encourage members to create their own roleplays in our forums where it's less stressful for everybody to participate.

Q: What do you look for in a character's biography?

A: Generally speaking, we don't limit creativity to your character's story! However, it's important to note a few things that we look for when reviewing an application.
Rule of thumb: Your character's story should contain:
•A small bit of background on your character's life before the event that lead them to Hell Corp/Daten City/Strappon's Abbey.

•The important event that lead them there. For Demons applying for Hell Corp, there doesn't have to be some huge hubbub, same goes for Humans. However, with Angels this should be the event that caused them to be booted from Heaven for repentance.

•A small bit on how they ended up where they are now.
We also look for fleshed-out personalities! Simple words mean one thing, but examples make a huge difference! It's the difference between "Cold, distant, cocky" and "[Character] is cold and distant to others, making them not much of a conversation. This changes when they fight, because they like to talk shit knowing they have the advantage."
:new: As an added note, if the character's biography talks about heavy topics that could be potentially triggering, please put warnings just before the character's full biography. Some members don't want to interact with certain topics and we want to respect that!

Q: A clothing article/accessory I wanted to use has been taken, what do I do?

A: Sadly we can't do anything about that. We function, more or less, under the first-come-first-serve system due to there being a finite number of namesakes. That doesn't mean there aren't alternatives. If you see a namesake you wanted has been taken, or have been notified that someone beat you to it, try to find variations of that namesake or translate it into another language or at least come up with a nickname if you want that specific namesake. We will allow five of the same namesake, albeit one per each species (Angels, Demons, Humans, Thrones, Inquisitors).
Please refrain from using fabrics or patterns as namesakes. They will not be accepted.
:new: As an added note: We encourage unique namesakes for characters as well. Some namesakes may simply not exist (like Tuxedo Mask or Keaton Mask). As long as the namesake is based on an already existing piece of clothing/accessory, it should be fine. Do message mods if you're unsure, though!

Q: May I reserve namesakes for my characters until I'm ready to apply?

A: No, adhere to the above answer.

:new: Q: What are Parody and Expy characters? Are they allowed? When do they start becoming a problem?

A: Before giving a direct answer, we're going to explain the two types of characters.

The definition for parody is as follows:
An imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or
genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect.
This happens to be an important element in Panty and Stocking considering that a fair amount of its artistic styles, jokes, and references are often exaggerated for comedic value.
When a character is made as a parody, they are meant to highlight certain aspects of either the writing, the fanbase, or some other element and exaggerates it. A critique, if you will.

One example of a parody character in the group would be Shades, where he exaggerates a fandom misinterpretation of a Homestuck character being a weeaboo.

Expies are a completely different type of character than parodies. The full term for Expy characters is Exported Character, basically a fancier term for an AU character. The term is more associated with OCs that folks love to port to other universes because they act like an avatar for them. DCM, however, has it's own definition of Expy characters. For one thing, these characters tend to be AU versions of pre-existing characters from franchises and other media. Sometimes, the Expy character carries more than one inspiration, making them an amalgam of different sources that becomes wholly original. These type of characters only become a real problem when you treat the source material as if they were your OC rather than trying to develop them as their own thing within the lore we've provided. They're meant for fun, yes, but we want to see them grow and develop past what they were originally.

Examples of expy characters are Jacket or Jeans

Q: Can humans participate in Demon/Angel roleplays?

A: Of course! They're just as involved in Daten's escapades as much as Immortals are.

:new: Q: What are the human’s purpose? How come there's no neutral affiliation?

A: Neutral affiliation has been highly requested for the group for as long as we've been running it. However, we have no plans to implement a true neutral affiliation within the group for a few reasons.
•We emphasize the struggle between two warring sides for a reason. At the end of the day, humans will prefer one side over the other for any personal reason. That reason doesn't need to be deep at all or important.

•We still allow characters to constantly flip-flop between alignments, even at the highest obtainable ranks, something we feel could be interesting elements to help further a character's story.

•True neutral characters are kind of already allowed. They were an indirect result from allowing members to put in NPCs for our RP text-channels on our Discord server.
Considering the distinction between text-channel human NPCs and human characters in the group, human characters applied into the "main" group have the alignment they do for a reason. They are meant to be developed further as they live through the effects of being around Immortals. If your hankering for a more casual or silly experience with a human character, we recommend making them an NPC in our text-channels.

:new: Q: How many characters are we allowed to have?

A: We have a limit of up to 10 characters. This involves Main Roster characters and NPCs or, main and side characters. In comparison to many groups on dA, this is a very generous limit when you consider many groups don't allow past 3 characters. Below are some key points we feel are important for members to know:
•Only apply a character if you're thinking of, not only developing them, but investing time and effort into them. This includes buying them things like ranks, items, pets, etc. Please refrain from applying a character just for the sake of having them in the group. We understand making characters is fun and PSG makes that easy, but remember that there aren't many namesakes out there and we'd rather have names open for new applicants.

•Please do not ask us to to change this limit for whatever reason. We are adamant about keeping it at 10. The limit is that high as we saw it fair that members can have that amount, especially when you consider that mods have that amount themselves or are close to it.The only time we'd ever consider increasing the character limit is if a mod breached over 20 characters, which is unlikely.

•Only four (4) characters may be applied into the group without any prerequisites. To unlock the next slot, we require that members at least rank up one or two characters until your roster is maxed out. If you're applying a character but have not or cannot rank up a previous one, you will be asked to take one out.

•With a large cast comes a great responsibility. Keep in mind that having many characters can get exhausting when more than 2 are being roleplayed by the same person at the same time and it's easy to lose track. This is why we strongly encourage to be slow with your roster and to consider which characters are worthy of being applied to the group. Otherwise, we have the text-channels on our Discord server where NPCs can be applied. They currently have no character limit as we believe that these characters are best suited for a more casual and relaxed experience.

•If you don't have a muse for a character in your roster but don't want to get rid of them in order to make room for a new muse, you can send the characters into our OC Holding Bin. The bin acts as a temporary holding place, but be aware that once a character goes in here, they lose preferential treatment like namesake priority and being allowed back on your roster once you're maxed out. We have no limit as to how many characters can be binned, but we ask for it to be kept to a minimum.

Q: Does my Angel need to be a Fallen?

A: This is something we can't stress enough about. Every Angel belonging to a member needs to be a Fallen with a corresponding sin. We don't want generic stories that they didn't follows rules in Heaven, we're looking for how their sin got them kicked out of Heaven. If you don't have an understanding of a certain sin, please adhere to this journal.

Q: Why is the group's angel hierarchy missing ranks?

A: Our group's angel hierarchy is missing ranks for the following reasons:
•For the sake of keeping things simple for the actual ranking system in the group.
•We're not here to be faithful to biblical texts, there will be dramatic deviations.
This is why we stress the use of the ranks we have available within our group, the missing ranks simply don't exist in our canon. Unused ranks may have the potential of being names of subspecies and that's only confirmed if we ever make the subspecies canon like Cherubim and Thrones. Trust us, we're fully aware of what we're doing.

Q: Where can my Angel live?

A: We encourage applicants and members alike to house their angels in the Abbey. They're on earth for rehabilitation and the Abbey offers a range of services such as: free indefinite housing, recreational activities, therapy animals, individual therapy sessions, and combat training. This may be excessive but remember that angels treat Sin seriously as it may develop into something more severe. Humans are more than welcomed to live at the Abbey and have access to the same benefits, especially if they're homeless! The only required payment is that everybody does their fair share of chores. The Abbey has no employed help and runs on nothing but donations, sustenance farming, and volunteer work. Unless your angel has a very good excuse as to why they aren't living on the premises, we prefer for them to stay at the Abbey.

Q: Can my character be a Nephilim?

A: Nope. In DCM canon, they're something completely different and NOT a Demon/Angel hybrid. Demon/Angel hybrids are not allowed in the group to begin with.

Q: May I edit my Application?

A: Members are able to edit the Extras and the application art (should it be an art application) with no problem. Anything else, however, has to go through us mods to see if it is still up to our standards. Send us a message so that we may help you out with your application.

Q: Can my character be part Angel and Demon?

A: No. Refer to Q: Can my character be a Nephilim.

Q: Can my Human be a hybrid of any sort?

A: Humans can be a hybrid of Angels OR Demons. For example, your character can be half angel, half human, but they can't be a quarter demon and a quarter angel. There's a couple guidelines with these if you want to make one:

•Whether or not they are immortal depends on their mother. If the mother was an immortal (demon or angel) they will be immortal, and vice-versa.
•They are born into their alignment. I.e. If you are born half-demon, you are hellbent or demon.
•Humans do not look any different from another human.
•They are null to their species' weapons! (Part Angels can't be hurt by Angel weapons, etc.)

Of course, the first point is a guideline we set out in case you're unsure of who you want being the Immortal parent of your character. The rest are actually rules.
You can't be half part-Ghost or part-Lost Soul. They are not physical.

Q: Can Angels and Demons be friends and have romantic relationships?

A: It's possible for Immortals to form friendships. Culture and blood relations dictate how Immortals form relationships. Accepted ways for Immortals to be friends or blood related are:

•Individuals involved in these relationships were formerly either humans or angels before one or more became demons. Despite this, they remain amicable with each other.

•The culture they originated from allows for Immortals to treat each other as equals, allowing them to work together. This opens up the opportunity for them to become close friends as well which is also allowed in their culture.

•For them to be potentially blood related, it can go a few routes. Like the first point, all individuals could have been either humans or angels before one or more became demons. That or they can be half-siblings from a human mother.
However, they are prohibited from forming romantic and sexual relationships. We mods don't care if you actually pair your demon with an angel, but that's as long as it's not reflected in the group. We will tell you to cut it out if it happens within the group.

Q: Can my character be another species other than Demon, Angel, or Human?

A: No. Creation of species or subspecies is, for the most part, mod domain. We work had trying to fit different species in the group that won't break current group canon. Most ideas don't make it past the conceptual stages as we don't want to over-saturate the group with half-baked concepts (we did learn a lesson or two after the creation of Originals). This doesn't mean we're not open to suggestions, but be aware that we'll be critical of what'll be suggested.
Any character that is applied as an original species without prior knowledge or consent will be denied.

Q: Can we submit ghosts?

A: You’re more than welcomed to create a ghost to have appear in a roleplay! We would appreciate it if you take a look in our ghost folder to avoid having an idea repeat. If you’re unsure of how many Heavens a ghost is worth, you may ask mods or our contributors for input! Currently our ghost folder is: CLOSED.

Q: Can we buy Heavens and Havocs with Rep Points?

A: Yes, they cost 40 Rep Points each.

Q: Can my characters have pets?

A: By all means, we actually encourage for your characters to have pets (Zipper pet or otherwise.) We have a certain guideline for Zipper Pets in that they need to be named after sewing equipment or fabrics (i.e. Fastener, Buckle, Cross-Stitch, Silk, etc.)

Q: Is making a Pesterchum/Twitter mandatory?

A: Not really, it’s purely for fun for whom ever is up for it. Though, this is a great opportunity for members to engage in 1-to-1 roleplays without feeling pressured. You also have the liberty to post up pester logs to the group! Currently, we aren't accepting Twitter threads to be submitted in the same manner as pester logs but we they still count towards character rank-ups.

Q: Do we have to draw to be in the group?

A: Nope, you don’t need any fancy art skills to be in the group. We happily accept writers into the group and have a written application guideline for you to work with!

:new: Q: Does my demon character have to be red only?

A: Nope. However there are color guidelines depending on the species/subspecies of demon in question.
Non-Aquatic & Non-Inquisitor Demons:
These demons are allowed to be within the Red, Orange, and Blue color spectrums, including Albinism. This also includes colors such as subtle hues of violet (red-purple), generic purple, or deep red and blues. These demons don't typically show colors outside of these spectrums and if they do, they're probably hybrids. Albinism usually only lightens up their skin and hair color, the condition making other colors like yellow, cyan, and peach, possible for these demons. It can turn hair completely white, much like it may when humans with blond hair are albino, but it cannot turn their skin completely white. White is reserved for demons of old lore which are mod-only characters.
Their eyes also end up having only 1 color instead of the standard double-colored iris.

Inquisitors:
They don't actually have much room for other skin colorations, only solid black. The only times their skin lightens up is when they're hybrids. They cannot experience albinism, either.

Sirens:
These guys are free-reign when it comes to color but they cannot be completely stark white in terms of their skin, nor a solid black like Inquisitors.

Q: What’s the roleplaying style in this group?

A: We roleplay in a Literate Style, aka, book writing roleplaying. Here’s a little example:
Person A walks into the Demon HQ, deciding to take a small break in the lounge area. The day’s work was exhausting, but it was a wild ride trying to contain that ghost! Person B sluggishly drags their feet towards the lounge area’s couches with a Person A looking on. Poor soul, they probably took the brunt of today’s tasks.
It is not a requirement to write in huge paragraphs as many of us often use two word to one sentence replies for comedic effect.

Q: Do art applications have to be in the PSG style?

A: No they don't! Feel free to draw in your own style. We don't feel like you should be forced to draw in a way you're not comfortable. If you can do it, feel free, if not, don't worry about it!

Q: If my Angel/Demon has two weapons, could they be combined together?

A: Yes, they can! The catch is that, at the moment, we're limiting this ability for Rank III Immortals. We're constantly trying to figure out our combat system and when we're confident in something concrete will we lower the rank required to combine double weapons if necessary.

Q: I've read all the information regarding a particular subject for my character but the mods are telling me to change it. Why is that when I can't find that information or it's stated as something else in all available journals or resources?

A: There are many reasons for this which will be broken down:

•They're unspoken rules between us mods and maybe some veteran members. It's something that's more common sense than anything.

•We haven't actually updated or created the journal/resource regarding some subjects. We are slow when it comes to updating our journals as the information we currently have is meant to last, but we may underestimate how time can quickly make certain stuff outdated. We greatly appreciate it when potential applicants and members alike point this out because us mods straight up forget.

•It's unlikely that this is information we aren't regarding within our canon. There's a slim chance that it's the case, but it's always good to check in with us.
